Phoebe Bell was born in Kaurna / Adelaide in 1998. A self-taught visual artist with a practice that spans painting, illustration, printmaking, ceramics, and jewellery making.
Bell’s work explores questions of feminism, gender, sexuality, and identity. Inspired by master painters, and both historic and contemporary iconography, interwoven with influences drawn from tropes found in slogans, catchphrases, quotes, and the everyday.
Bell was selected as a finalist in the 2025 Salon des Refusés (Archibald) at S.H. Ervin Gallery. They live and work in Brisbane, Australia on the unceded lands of the Meanjin people.
